Comets Continue to Struggle!

The comets continued their loosing streak after a tough loss to Northern Highlands. With a couple of missing players the comets were no match for the Northern Highlands squad. The final score was 4-1. Shayan Sharoudi scored the only goal for the comets. Northern Highlands opened up the score off a cross. The player headed the ball as the other one put in the rebound. Minutes later Sharoudi answered back off a set piece play with an assist from Peter Bonilla from midfield. Sharoudi beat two defenders and finished with a good chip over the Highlanders keeper. Northern Highlands scored 1 more minutes before halftime. In the second half Northern Highlands scored 2 goals and controlled the rest of the game. The comets lacked attack and are in desperate need of scoring. With the "Super Sophomores" forced to sit out the comets only had 1 alternative and the was Sharoudi, who managed to score his 3rd goal of the season. Next the comets will look to put up a fight against Don Bosco Prep this friday! The comets will return with most of their squad including the "Super Sophomores" Molina and Gomez. Despite the loss to Northern Highlands their were certain players who managed to stand out and give a good performance. Andres Pestana gave a good performance on the field and created many opportunities. Despite the small amount of playing time this season Steven Moreno also showed talent on the field connecting solid passes and various attacks. The comet defense struggled the whole game due to Northern Highlands winning most balls in the air. The comets showed improvement when they played with the ball on the ground. However the comets were weak when it came to winning the ball in the air. Captain Gioser Torrealba was back in the line-up and played as a strong defender. The comets will look to put an end to this loosing streak Friday as they take on Don Bosco. I most likely will not be able to attend due to work, but will report back with any news. So don't forget to follow me on twitter @ayochelo for any news, updates and comments on the squad!
