Chit Chat with Gomez
After facing a 2 game suspension "Super Sophmore" Anthony Gomez is back and ready to make a mark with the comets. I managed to catch up with the rising star and listen to what he had to say. When asked to describe the team he simply replied "I would describe my team as family! Being the youngest one they tend to pick on me but its all love. They work really hard and want to bring a good name to Hackensack this year. They are always willing to help others and my team is just a great bunch of kids. Im glad Im able to play with them this year and be apart of there family". Gomez was also asked what the team needs to get out of the scoreless rut and start wining. "We need to start focusing more and stop caring about the name of the school we're playing against. We need to communicate more and be more optimistic, we already have 5 losses but that does not mean we cant turn it around! Every player has his role and we need to play our role." stated the young sophmore. Being known as one of the "Super Sophmores" I asked Gomez about his thoughts on the name. He replied "It sounds cool being called the "Super Sophmore duo" but honestly there is nothing super about me. Im just a hard working kid trying to make a name for myself this season and get recongized. My relationship with Nelson is great! He is like brother to me. We been through a lot freshman year and especially this year, we know how to play with each other very well but lately we haven't been connecting hopefully we can change that because we are very hungry to come out on top!". To wrap up the interview I asked Gomez what his hope are for this season and what his goal are. "My hopes for this season are to improve myself as a player and for my team to continue to improve. I wanna find the back of the net, win and work hard!". Come support the comets at Hackensack High School toinght at 7pm as they look to take a win at home over Tenafly. The comets will be looking to end the loosing streak and start their journey to success.
